Science is a subject that stimulates children's curiosity about the world around them. It allows children of all ages interactive and first hand experiences, which are vital in developing their knowledge and understanding of science and its effects on the world.
Science provides numerous opportunities for questioning and for the children to come up with their own experiments, and through analysis come up with their own conclusions and answers.
As with all curriculum areas in our school, science is sometimes taught as part of a much wider topic. This is so that the science work that your child will study can be seen to be applicable in a wider context. However there are many times when science and other subjects will be taught on their own, because this is the best way for your child. All the aspects of physical and environmental science will be covered as laid out in the National Curriculum. Your child will develop the skills of scientific investigation as well as the development of knowledge and scientific concepts.
