Mrs Judy Moore is our Special Needs Co-ordinator. She is responsible for organising the teaching and learning of children with specific educational needs.
All of our teachers ensure that children are given work that is relevant and suitable for their own needs and that the curriculum is delivered in an appropriate manner.
If we are aware that a child needs particular support we will discuss the matter with the child’s parents and make sure that they are involved in the decisions about future provision for their child.
The school supports the LEA’s policy that, wherever possible, children with special educational needs should be integrated into school. The school b
uilding has a number of facilities for children with physical disabilities: there are ramps at the front and rear, corridor doors are wide enough for wheelchairs and there is a disabled toilet by the school office.
Saint John’s Church School shows its commitment to providing an appropriate curriculum for children with special needs by employing a Teaching Assistant in every class. |
