We aim to engage, inspire and challenge our pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.
We aim to ensure that all pupils:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
We benefit from a purpose-built art studio in which the children can immerse themselves into the creative curriculum. Since the start of the new year, we have started working with two new Artists in Residence. Miss Croft and Mrs Hope, working with every class once a week to help students learn about and create art in different ways. They will also be using the art studio for their own work as well as developing a fun space for children to become better artists and storytellers.
The Art Studio is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12.30pm to 1.00pm for children to come and take part in doodle and drawing activities during lunch time. This is to encourage mindful thinking and to provide an alternative to playground activities. A Story Telling Club runs on Tuesdays after school as well as an Art Club on Mondays and Wednesdays.
