Our philosophy is that ICT supports and enhances teaching & learning, offering all our children opportunities to use ICT to support across the curriculum.
We have a purpose-built ICT suite which classes use for one hour each week. In addition to this all children from Year 1 – 6 have access to a Chromebook for use in the classroom. Our aims are to ensure that all pupils:
- can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
- can analyse problems in computational terms and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
- can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
- are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology
All classes follow a computing curriculum which cover four key areas:
Computer science programming and networking
Digital literacy embedding ICT across the curriculum
Digital creativity using computers for drawing and music sequencing
Digital citizenship E-safety
