Year 2 will explore the simplicity of the natural world through building habitats, pond dipping and making observational documentaries. This will give them the opportunity to explore life cycles, seasonal changes and understand that being outdoors makes them feel good about who they are. Throughout the term they will show courage by learning and recording their work in new ways using a variety of IT and learn how to upload to the school's Nature Journal. It is inevitable that this process will lead to moments of adversity which they will learn to bounce back from. To create a spiritual connection between themselves and their environment they will learn simple meditations to develop their concentration skills and self-awareness, they will begin to understand that having a still mind helps their brain to learn. These new experiences will increase their self-worth, teach responsibility, increase their vocabulary and affirm the relationships they have with those around them. While exploring nature they will be able to produce art in a variety of formats, explain the process of their creativity and develop vital self-evaluation skills.
