Curiculum Overview

As environmentalists, Year 2 will develop their fire skills where they will show humility, forgiveness and courage as they recreate the Great Fire of London.

They will demonstrate service and morality by growing herbs which will be used as ingredients for soup which will be
used by the local soup kitchen. To facilitate healthy relationships and caring for others, learners will play games in small groups and as a class, the main focus being on how and why they feel a
certain way.

Learners will be independent when dressing for FS. Physically they can keep themselves and others safe by using resources safely and appropriately.

To aide social and emotional development, they will engage in a variety of games to identify and manage feelings. Socially they will be able to share, participate in games and show respect to peers.

As they gain independence they will show resilience
when faced with challenges. Their understanding of outdoor experiences will have increased and they will be confident in accessing familiar activities. To embed class learning pupils will use fire to replicate the Great Fire of London by making and burning 2D houses and explore the changing states of different materials on the fire. Making links to the story The Bakers Boy they will make Damper bread to cookover the fire.
