Forest School

Year 4

Curiculum Overview
Learners will build upon their knowledge and experiences of FS to enable them to work collaboratively in groups and independently. They will effectively manage conflict and be able to find resolutions independently.
As individuals they will be able to contribute to group discussions. As a cohort they can work independently, in small groups and as a class. They demonstrate respect for the natural world and understand as individuals how they have a responsibility to look after the environment.
As environmentalists, Year 4 will explore nature through a lens to help them understand the significance of making a choice in the moment. They will use different themes each week such as, ‘In the wrong place’, ‘The simple things’ and ‘The weather’ as inspiration for their images. Through these images they will see first hand how the choices humans make impact our environment. All their photographs will be curated to form a photography exhibition called ‘The Choices we Make’.
Along with practical photography skills they will see how they can make positive changes to their school environment. They will use different forms of capturing images and learn how to present them in a creative way.
