As environmentalists, Year 4 will use their knowledge of God’s world to create globes from recycled paper. To embed their class learning they will link climate zones, earthquakes and volcanoes to Forest school in a creative way.
They will embark on a mission of service as they investigate ways in which we can be a more sustainable school, their work will be put forward as evidence for the Eco Charter.
To facilitate healthy relationships and caring for others, learners will play games in small groups and as a class, the main focus being on how and why they feel a certain way. Learners will build upon their knowledge and experiences of FS to enable them to work collaboratively in groups and independently.
They will effectively manage conflict and be able to find resolutions independently. As individuals they will be able to contribute to group discussions. As a cohort they can work independently, in small groups and as a class.
They will demonstrate respect for the natural world and understand as individuals how they have a responsibility to look after the environment. To embed class learning they will make globes from recycled paper which will be used in their immersion day.
As they explore natural disasters they will simulate earthquakes and construct volcanoes using natural materials. Together we will investigate how we can be a more sustainable school by exploring was to reduce electricity usage, this information will be used as evidence for the Eco Charter.
