How do you wash a Wooly Mammoth?

Writer's picture: Simon HollingsworthSimon Hollingsworth

This week in Hummingbird's class we have been learning about rocks and their properties, we enjoyed exploring lots of different rocks and then identifying whether they were Sedimentary, Igneous or Metamorphic.

We did this by dropping water onto the rocks and then noticing if the water passed through the rock or if it ran off it. The children were really engaged and I wonder if they might carry on this investigation at home!

In our writing lessons we are learning about instructions through exploring the text 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'. We have explored different instruction texts and identified their purpose. Our next task is to write our own instructions for 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'. We have written our introduction to our instructions, starting with a rhetorical question. I'm sure that all of the children will be able to give their families some examples of rhetorical questions, as they did brilliantly at this in school!
