I started working at St Johns in 2006 as the Finance Administrator and over the years my role has developed to encompass other areas within school.
From leaving school I worked in a bank for many years and then in the accounts department of a large motor company for a further 10 years before taking a break to bring up my children.
During this time I took on volunteer roles as Treasurer for my local Pre-school and the local Scout group. I continued in both of these roles long after my children had grown up and left.
Upon returning to work, I wanted to continue in the education field and was lucky enough to re-establish my career at Johns and I absolutely love it. Each day is different to the next and the staff and children make each day a pleasure to work here.

Leaving the army 26 years ago to raise my children, returning to a school environment seemed unlikely! My youngest daughter starting school meant I was free to start a whole new career. The variety and challenge of working in a school environment really appealed to me and has never failed to interest me. I love coming to work every day even after over 17 years! Every member of staff supports each other and works together to establish the best learning environment for all children. My role has changed over the years and is now primarily dealing with Admissions and Attendance. Every day is different and I particularly love the diversity of our school and seeing former pupils now returning with their children. I really can't imagine working anywhere else.
Having spent 25 years working in the Finance and Insurance sector I felt it was the right time for me to take a change of direction. When my children started school I always wanted to help out where possible and I played an active role on the PTA. Working closely with their school I saw what a wonderful workplace it was and the feeling it gives you. So when the opportunity came for me to join a team in a school office I knew I had to give it a go, knowing I could put to good use many of the skills I have developed in my career to date.
I am already relishing my new role and couldn’t wish for a better environment and team to work with than what I have at St. John’s.

On leaving school my career path took me through office based jobs and I eventually became a bookkeeper ending up working alongside my husband, keeping accounts for his business.
My other love, however, was helping out in the Primary School that my 3 children attended. I volunteered my services every week and never missed a school trip!
Getting my school office job at St John's was like a dream come true for me, a combination of two things I love most!
I have always known from a young age that I wanted to do something artistic and what better opportunity than to work in an environment where a child's imagination and creativity is sparked on a daily basis? I have had the pleasure of working at St John's since 2004, where I began my career working as a Learning Mentor; removing barriers to learning. My creativity and passion for creating the perfect learning environment has seen my role develop to the one I have today. I love working in a school where innovation and collaboration are embedded in our culture and developing the whole child always remains at the heart of our vision.

I spend every working day be surrounded by wonderful staff and children. An environment where every moment counts, every positive action rewards us all with incredible reactions. To see our children grow and learn in the way they do is truly awe inspiring and what motivates and drives us all.
For 11 years I have been part of the St John's community and I can think of nowhere else I would rather be.
